So what's a Blip? I'll get into that, but first let me give you all a quick disclaimer 'cause i know if I stick a link at the top you're just going to click on it without reading the rest of the post. That's what I would do. (If you really don't feel like reading, just click the link at the bottom)

Like most things we build at fuzz, we thought we'd leak a little sneak peak to you guys (Fuzz users) before we tell the rest of the world what's going on. I think you guys will dig this one.

Here's the disclaimer part: Development isn't done yet, so think of it as a work in progress ('beta' status). Things might appear or disappear over the next week, and some stuff will more than likely break on occasion. Don't worry, we're probably on it. If you want to make sure, send us a PM. Which reminds me...

Make sure to PM The Goat with any feedback. The engineers (us) actually read everything you email/PM, so send us thoughts and suggestions. Doesn't mean we like everything people send us, but we do read it.

OK so the Blip... It's the best instant gratification music discovery engine we've ever used. We know because that's why we built it. If you use Twitter, you can think of it like Twitter for music. If you don't, think of it like a never ending playlist that you and your friends build in real-time, and you know why they picked each song.

OK, I get the basics. Pretty intuitive. Great concept, but I need some "tips and tricks" about how the interface works with friendfeed, twitter, etc., how "following" works, stuff like that.

No idea how this friendfeed audioscrobbler thingie works, but I guess DifferentStars will it explain it to me sooner or later. Blip is the breakthrough concept!

The software itself is cool, very fast and modern. But it's quite uncool, slow-minded and boring-old-fartish what we all (including myself) currently do with it: We don't show what we actually listened to before blipping, instead we go into blip, let the software search for some really boring old big record company corporate industry rock-schlock, and pretend we would have been really listening to it.

Blip surely could be used for much better stuff. I assume this will be the case as soon as we will get over our conservative nostalgic obsessions.

I disagree. So far...Blip has been as far from boring as possible. nostalgic??? Yes...but also in the now. And certainly not uncool. Or should I say, ''I may not know cool, but I know what I like!''
I'd love for you to look at the playlist of mine for example...and justify it as being boring old fartish like.

What's more...I've been turned on (discovered) to new artists by peoples blips. Some of it old...some of it new.
It doesn't matter. The discovery of music shouldn't be limited to what's new today, but rather what moves you. Conservative Nostalgic Obsessions....Why don't you Blip your idea of what your selling as better and I'll give you my opinion. Don't get me wrong...I respect your opinion...I just think it's a bit off the rocker.
I'm only excited for Blip to get more traffic and to develop fully. I look forward to your next blip...but be warned, your now under the microscope....So it's gotta be good! Thanks.

I love Blib - it's like meeting friends in a living room and sharing.....I totally forgot my music snob attitude and that's great. Cause it should be enjoyable and fun to share with friends - it's not about making the world a better place or blibbing political statements all the time. So - some of the stuff I listen to is super mainstream - who cares. Ok Tibii does but Blib is a conversation about music - I really loved that nostalgic 80ies "Damn we all listened to shit" one. That's where I am coming from. "Duran Duran" and "Wham" :-) Blip sessions like that one help to bond with other users cause you share your emotions - it's a great way to develop friendships. Fuzz shouldn't be a closed circle for music snobs and connaisseurs.

I addition: Mainstream says nothing about the quality of the music - it just says that this music is very popular - Nothing more - nothing less!

I did not speak about mainstream vs closed circles. I also am not opposed to emotions or friendships. I do love Duran Duran and Wham, they happen to be some of my all time favorites. Let me use a comparison for what I mean: We all get new mobile phones, put them beside our fixed telephone sets, and:
leave them lying there, romanticising about the good old fixed-telephone times.

Technical question: Can users who are not registered at Fuzz take part in this Blip?
posted on May 11 at 11:29 am
Nonsense! Blip is about telling ppl about stuff you listen to, tracks you want to recommend... I could not care less if these tracks are 40 years old or from 2008. Music with quality has no expiration date. Blip is meant for sharing emotions and that's what people do.
